Small Pools and Plunge Pools
A plunge pool is a small, deep-enough-to-sit pool for cooling off and soaking; a small pool or lap pool trades width for swimming length. They fit lots where a full pool won't clear the setbacks. Golden Yards' editorial range for plunge pools is $25,000–$40,000+.

Fitting a pool inside the setbacks
Draw the setbacks before you fall in love with a size:
- Contra Costa County (Alamo, Blackhawk, Diablo): 5 ft from side and rear property lines to the water's edge (County handout)
- Walnut Creek: no pools in a required front or street-side yard (WC zoning §10-2.3.112)
- Easements, utility lines and the equipment pad all take space
- The required safety barrier needs room around the water
Fiberglass or gunite for a small pool?
Small fiberglass models are a fast, tidy option where a truck or crane can reach. Gunite lets you fit an odd-shaped corner, add a bench all the way around, or build a raised plunge that doubles as a spa. Fiberglass pools · Custom gunite
Heated plunge pools
Many plunge pools here are built to be heated, used like a large spa in winter and a cold plunge in summer. Plan the heater, a good cover and the controls up front; a heat pump suits steady warmth, gas suits quick heat-ups.
